We are developing synthesis of intermediates of 19-nor-Vitamin D3 type compounds.
Recently, much attention has been paid to compounds of 2-alkylidene-19-nor-Vitamin
D, especially compounds with a small alkyidene, especially methylene, group
because those compounds do not interfere with the vitamin D receptor. Recently,
we developed a synthetic method for an important intermediate "19-nor-VD
A ring synthon". The compound "19-nor-VD A ring synthon 2"
is an important intermediate of 2-methylene-19-nor-Vitamin D which has
a methylene moiety at 2 position. "19-Nor-VD A ring synthon 1"
can be transformed to various types of 2-position substituted 19-nor-Vitamin
D compounds through function transformation of the methylene group.
